The river and valley is a wonderful place to visit. Its a lovely environment that you can get away from the stresses and strains of work and home, its a place you can explore and play in as locals have for generations.
Over the past few hundred years its not changed much, as can be seen here on the late 1800s maps available from maps.nls.uk ( The National Library of Scotlands mapping project ). Its home to a variety of wildlife which we are trying to catalog on our inaturalist.org project. Our local bird spotters have complied a list of what they have seen over the past few years here.
Old Basing Parish council created this wonderful guide to walks around the area, many of which follow the river at times.
